Piano and Voice

Jenn Amory

I am currently pursuing a Bachelors in Music Education (Vocal Track) at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. I am also heavily involved in Rutgers Choirs as the current President of Voorhees Choir, and member of Kirkpatrick Choir. I have been teaching voice and piano lessons for three years.

I spent all of K-12 in Piscataway Schools, and was particularly inspired by Megan Suozzo, choir director at Piscataway High School (and past teacher at Raritan Music Center). Her style of teaching effectively, positively, and with compassion is what led me to pursue Music Education.

I have been in choir since I was 9 years old, but did not begin private voice lessons until later in life at 17, and piano at 19. I had always been interested in music, and made the realization in high school that it was what I wanted to do with my life professionally.

I greatly enjoy listening to and performing a vast variety of music from a wide selection of composers and artists, including Franz Schubert, Benjamin Britten, Stephen Sondheim, and Taylor Swift.

My favorite music to perform is anything with heart - I find music to be at its best when conveying an emotion too strong for just words. I find music to be incredibly powerful and moving, and if I can bring that joy and ability to even a few students in my life, I will have achieved something that is, in my opinion, incredibly fulfilling.
